Workshop Description: The indigo class takes 2 hours. We learn how to use indigo (Isatis tinctorum) to color blue. Blue is the color of the kings because it is so rare from nature. No plant in Iceland gives blue that we know about. In the class we make a indigo vat and dyebath and experiment with overdying various colors and color combinations for green and strange colors. The participants get to choose one skein from the class to take home with them and they get a small booklet about Plant dyeing. All yarn and course materials for this course are included.
