Time: 9am to 12 noon & 1:30 to 4:30pm
Workshop Description: The workshop is divided into two three-hour sessions covering the basics of sweater design from start to a finished product. Among topics covered are: the design process, taking measurements, calculations for knitting, how to knit and measure a gauge swatch as well as some sampling of knitting techniques. Some knitting books and resources will be introduced. A sweater will not be started but the clinic attempts to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to design and start a sweater from scratch. The clinic will provide quality handouts as well as selected yarn for sample knitting. Each participant will receive two balls of yarn suitable for needles 3.5 – 4 mm. Participants should bring a sketch book, pencil, measuring tape as well as basic knitting tools. It is advised to have on a tight undershirt so measuring will be easier as well as to bring a fitting garment that can be used for fit.
